THE SITUATION BEFORE MOQ1
She wanted to design. The admin had other plans.
Emma Matsinger is a seasoned graphic designer with 24 years of experience spanning print production, design firms, and independent studio ownership. Through EMM Design Studio, she provides small and growing businesses with professional branding, website design, and marketing support, offering the expertise and quality of an agency with a more personal, hands-on approach. Her passion has always been the creative work, but over time, more and more of her attention was being pulled toward the operational side of the business.
Her clients needed apparel and branded merchandise. Emma had an ASI account and local printers she trusted. But every order became a project: take the client’s list, call the printer, find out a color or size wasn’t in stock, go back to the client, get it sorted, then pick up the finished goods, which was a long drive, with traffic, each way.
One physical therapy client crystallized the problem. She had constant staff turnover and kept ordering in bulk just to hit the printer’s minimum. When orders came in, her office manager was packing and shipping t-shirts instead of running the practice.
I’d prefer to focus on the design work rather than managing the administrative details of merchandise orders.
What changed
One question. One answer. Everything after that was different.
When Emma found MOQ1, she didn’t pitch it to her PT client first. She built the store first. Took her logo, set up a shop in minutes, then sent a single message: “Hey, I have something for you. Check it out.”
The client’s first question: “How many do I have to get?”
The answer was one.
The client put the MOQ1 link on her practice website. Employees order their own gear when they start. When something goes wrong, they contact MOQ1 directly, not Emma. A hat came in recently with a crooked print. Replaced in two days. Emma never made a single call.
She doesn’t need to contact me about every minor detail. If an issue arises, she can reach out to your team directly.
The office manager stopped packing shirts. The printer loop was gone. Emma got her time back.
What she does with moq1 today
Build the store. Send the email. See who says yes.
Emma’s prospecting process now starts with MOQ1. When she spots a potential client, she gets their logo, builds a store without telling them, and sends one email: “Hey, I did this for you.” Ten minutes. A few of those have turned into clients who saw the store and couldn’t say no.
“I’ll put together a store and a sales email and say, ‘Hey, I did this for you.’ I’ve gotten a couple of bites that way.”
She now runs more than a dozen active stores, with more in the pipeline. About half her clients use the always-on model: the store runs itself, clients order when they need to, and Emma is barely involved after setup. The rest she manages more actively, adding seasonal promotions and new products as clients ask.
Nonprofits. Plumbers. Real estate agents. A group of friends doing a 5K with matching shirts. Schools. Clients she’d have turned away before because a small order wasn’t worth the coordination now get a yes automatically.
She includes social media posts for every client at no charge, designed by her, ready to share, and cross-promotes on her own channels too. The store comes with marketing built in.
what it means for the business
2-3 hours a week. Just gone.
The printer loop, the calls, the back-and-forth on inventory, the pickup, the drop-off, was taking Emma two to three hours every week. Now it isn’t.
It was starting to take up two or three hours of my week, and that time was just gone. MOQ1 gives me that time back so I can focus on the design work.
That time goes back into design. More clients, more creative work, more room for the seasonal promotions her clients actually want. She includes design services in the cost of every store, no hourly charges for file edits, no nickel-and-diming, because she can move fast and it makes the whole package better.
The print quality is what makes it all stick. Emma bought test garments for herself when she first signed up and has been watching them hold up ever since. Across her entire client base, quality concerns have been rare, and when something does come in wrong, MOQ1 handles the replacement directly, without Emma in the middle.
WHAT emma WOULD TELL A PEER
Build the store and let the quality do the talking.
When a client says they can get it cheaper somewhere else, Emma doesn’t fight it. She builds the store, shows them what MOQ1 looks like, and waits.
Eight out of 10 times, people come back to me after trying a cheaper option. They’ll say, “The design started peeling off,” and then they’re ready to invest in something better quality.
Those weren’t MOQ1 orders. The prints that peeled came from cheaper alternatives the client tried on their own. MOQ1’s DIGISOFT™ print technology is what they’re comparing against when they come back, and it’s what Emma puts in front of anyone who needs convincing. She’s tested the garments herself. They hold up wash after wash without fading or cracking, full-coverage designs included.
The quality makes the argument. Emma just makes sure people get to see it.
And when a prospect doesn’t know they need a store yet, she doesn’t ask. She builds it and shows them.
Now I’m much more likely to say yes to a project because MOQ1 handles the rest, allowing me to focus on the creative side of my business. That is the part I truly enjoy.
